Mersea Island Community First Responders
Tel: 07974 661829
Community First Responders take it in turns to be on duty with an East of England Ambulance Service phone and kit.
Should someone on Mersea become very sick, we get a call from the Service and are asked if we can attend.

Our kit consists of a Defib, Oxygen and various other small items.

We train once a week to keep our skills and knowledge fresh.

We are always looking for more volunteers, so if you don't mind the sight of blood, are hard to fluster, like helping people, are relatively fit and can spare a few hours a week then why not give us a ring and arrange to pop down and see us.

West Mersea Coastguard Rescue Team
HM Coastguard Rescue Team based on Mersea Island, Essex. We cover from Colchester Hythe round to Heybridge. Dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

We are a voluntary RLSS Group servicing the West Mersea Beachfront at Victoria Esplanade with a Beach Lifeguard Patrol and cover. We are on the beach every Sunday and Bank Holiday when there is a swimming high tide between the hours of 11am to 5pm.

West Mersea Lifeboat Station - RNLI
West Mersea Lifeboat Station currently operates a B class, Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat named 'Just George'. She and her volunteer crew members provide a 24/7 rescue service for the River Blackwater and surrounding areas including Mersea Island, Brightlingsea, Bradwell, Tollesbury, Heybridge Basin and Maldon.
The majority of 'shouts' (callouts) are to leisure craft. Other 'shouts' are often to assist commercial fishing boats, carry out medical evacuations at high tide from Mersea, Osea and Northey Islands and even to assist cars which become stranded on the Strood causeway onto Mersea.

The Lifeboat Station and Gift Shop is open to the public every weekend from April to the end of October from 1130-1600. During opening hours visitors have the opportunity to engage in a tour of the lifeboat.
